Mini-Quiz: Gravity Velocity Equations for Objects Projected Downward

by Ron Kurtus (revised 7 January 2011)

Take this Mini-Quiz to check your understanding of the lesson material.

1. What is the velocity of an object thrown downward at 10 ft/s after it falls 5 feet?

v = √(2.9.8*5 + 25) m/s

v = (32*5 + 10) ft/s

v = √(2*32*5 + 25) ft/s

2. If the initial velocity is 30 m/s, what is the velocity of an object that has been falling for 10 s?

128 meters/second

304 m/s

100 meters per second

3. If vi = 2 m/s, what is the velocity after it has traveled y = 4 meters?

v = √(2*32*4 + 4) m/s

v = √(2*9.8*4 + 4) m/s

v = √(2*9.8*4 + 2) m/s

If you got all three correct, you are on your way to becoming a Champion in Physics. If you had problems, you had better look over the material again.
