Mini-Quiz: Gravitational Force Between Two Objects

by Ron Kurtus (revised 22 January 2011)

Take this Mini-Quiz to check your understanding of the lesson material.

1. What is one result of the great force between the Earth and the Moon?

Oceans are pulled toward the Moon

There is no gravitation on the Moon

Items often will just fly into space

2. What happens to the gravitational attraction between a boy and a girl as they move closer together?

The force of attraction goes up, because the separation is smaller

They are told not to sit so close to each other

The force of attraction goes down, because the separation is smaller

3. Why is the girl attracted more to the Moon than the boy next to her?

She likes the Moon and dislikes the boy

The distance is greater to the Moon and thus the force is greater

The Moon has a much greater mass than the boy

If you got all three correct, you are on your way to becoming a Champion in Physics. If you had problems, you had better look over the material again.
