Mini-Quiz: Salts

by Ron Kurtus (15 December 2001)

Take this Mini-Quiz to check your understanding of the lesson material.

1. Why doesn't the equation Na + ClNaCl hold true?

Like oxygen and hydrogen, chlorine is always a molecule (Cl2) in nature

NaCl can only be made by combining an acid and a base

Sodium is too explosive to handle

2. How can you make salt crystals?

Add a gas and a powder

Combine an acid and base in a water solution

Evaporate the water from a salty solution

3. Why can you find more salts than acids in nature?

Salts are more chemically stable

Acids are usually kept in Chemistry labs

Because there is so much water in the oceans

If you got all three correct, you are on your way to becoming a Champion in Chemistry. If you had problems, you had better look over the material again.

Salt is essential to life
