Take this Mini-Quiz to check your understanding of the lesson material.

1. Why should you be careful in tasting an alkaline material?

It may burn the skin off your tongue

It may make you sneeze

It may be slippery

2. Which is a base?

CH3COOH

NaOH

NaCl

3. What can a gardener do if the soil is too acidic?

Add a base such as lime or chalk to reduce acidity

Add lemon juice to reduce the acidity

Add salt (NaCl) until the soil becomes a base

If you got all three correct, you are on your way to becoming a Champion in Chemistry. If you had problems, you had better look over the material again.
